Why should I be a Mentor?
The role of the mentor is to provide guidance and encouragement by sharing your experiences and personal insights. You can help the mentee progress towards different goals by giving constructive feedback, engaging in open communication, and developing a positive interpersonal relationship.
Some benefits of being a mentor include:
• Developing and strengthening your leadership skills and interpersonal communication.
• Reflecting on your achievements and refreshing your inspirations within MRS.
• Expanding your network through the development of new relationships and increasing your sense of connection within the MRS and ASMIRT communities.
• Refresh and challenge your thinking by sharing perspectives with emerging talented mentees.
• Satisfaction of helping others reach similar positions in their future careers.
• Claiming CPD hours.
• An exclusive opportunity to re-connect socially with other MRPs.
Why should I be a Mentee?
The role of the mentee is to learn from the mentor and be open to accepting advice and feedback in order to grow and progress your career. You may also share new ideas and approaches with your mentor.
Some benefits of being a mentee include:
• Receiving feedback and gaining insight on your career plans and experiences.
• Determining if a potential role, organisation, or sector is suited to you.
• Having support to set goals and develop strategies for achieving them.
• Building confidence by receiving encouragement and support, and identifying your strengths.
• Growing networks, contacts and opportunities within the field or a specific area of interest.
• Working through difficult situations, solving problems, and practicing conflict resolution by reflecting with an experienced mentor.
• Learning how to accept feedback in important areas.
• A unique opportunity to re-connect socially with other students and mentees of various experience levels.

Now...How does it all work?
Let us explain our flagship process for Match, Meet and Measure.
Mentors and Mentees progress through the program at their own pace with the support of emails and specifically designed mentoring resources, including guide books and workshops. As our Mentees turn into Mentors over time, they will confidently transfer knowledge and experience throughout the next generations of medical imaging professionals alike.
Match
Prospective mentees and mentors will complete an online expression of interest at the start of the year. Anyone, at any level, can apply to either or both roles.
If an appropriate mentee/mentor is available, matching will occur and contact details will be provided.
The mentee will be given instructions and a template to make initial contact, introduce themselves and their goals. They are also expected to be proactive in arranging their first meeting via Zoom, phone call, email or in-person.
Meet
Like all great things, we started small. We took a few like-minds with a shared vision—and ran with it. Today, we’ve grown into something big.
Meetings are at a self-directed pace. Their guided experience is supported by our comprehensive Mentoring 'Bucket List', meeting conversation models and templates for progress notes as well.
At the end of each meeting, a date should be arranged for the next one. Ideally, the pair will meet 8+ times at their own pace. The program will then conclude, but pairs may continue meeting independently if mutually agreed.
If, at any point, the mentee/mentor feels they cannot continue meetings, they may notify us and we will dissolve the mentoring partnership early on their behalf.
We will be available for questions and support, and resources/supporting events will provide tips on roles and practical skills important to mentoring.
Measure
Delivering Results? Easy!
The mentee and mentor will each be asked to fill out detailed online evaluations and Quality Scoring Surveys at the mid-point and end of the program. The evaluations include written feedback, quality scoring, WF (Ways Forwards) and EBI (Even Better Ifs). This makes it easy to capture the regular feedback needed to understand and track the quality of relationships.
